Peregrines have nested in the works at Lostock for the entire time I’ve lived in Northwich. Until recently there was another pair at Winnington, but the decrebid building they used was finally demolished a couple of years ago now. Our remaining pair are cherished by locals but generally tricky to view unless from distance. The Lostock works are secure though, which of course is good news for the birds in a world where we still have to worry about egg and chick theft. My recent access to Tata land at the lime beds has enabled me to see these birds regularly this year, sometimes over the line beds but more r typically whilst collecting keys from the gatehouse. The male has spent most of the spring on sentinel duty and today I managed some reasonable shots.
